About Us

Earthchild Birth Services provides individualized support through pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. We strive to provide services with a holistic and intuitive approach while still providing evidence based education. Earthchild Birth Services focuses primarily on serving women of color and their families in order to obtain safe and healthy outcomes between mother and baby as they often fail to receive even a fraction of the proper care, support and resources that their white counterparts receive. Carrying life within the womb is one of the most beautiful and sacred times in a womans life and with the birth of a child also comes the birth of a mother...each and every single time. We honor each journey, we hold space, we build connection and help guide you along your journey with knowledge, experience and intuition.

Meet the Doula

Greetings, I Chantal McMillan. I am a mother of 4 (two birthed and two bonus children). I am a wife, a trained birth doula, certified placenta encapsulation specialist and breastfeeding enthusiasts. I am a lover of nature, being out in it and all its elements. I love finding new places to hike and learning about edible plants and natural cures and remedies, I love animals, theater arts...the arts in general! I love learning about different cultures, their foods and practices and learning a little bit of this and that in other languages.

I became obsessed with watching A Baby Story on TLC around age 12. By that point I had my future daughters’ name picked out and knew that I wanted to have a water birth when the time came. Fast forward to age 26 I had my first born and I had a water birth. Early on in my pregnancy I found I wasn't really connecting with my ob/gyn and figured maybe finding a female ob/gyn would be better, you know...someone who could understand me as a female but I wasn't feeling her either. I didn't feel heard, I felt like just another patient.

Then I found a midwife. She heard me, she supported my decision to have a home birth, I knew right away that was a more fitting environment for me. I labored and birthed at home, in the water. I had a wonderful doula. My pregnancy and birthing and even postpartum journey was what sparked my interest in doing this work. I birthed my second child at home as well but without a doula. I felt comfortable and confident enough to birth on my own. Between both children I breastfeed for a total of 2.5 years. I encapsulated my placenta after doing research on the benefits I could gain from doing so. I choose not to vaccinate my children and they are homeschooled. I truly feel this birthwork is one of the many gifts I was blessed with and called to do and I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you on your journey.
